Exclusive to staying guests only, the Terraces Resort & Spa offer flavorful and filling meals (which are included in the package, though do consult the booking office) made with recipes that highlight the freshness of the locally-sourced ingredients.

After a little tour of our fantastic suite (review here) and the nearby facilities in the resort, we decided to listen to our stomachs and pause our curiosity for a bit and were ready for dinner. While guests can choose to have their meals delivered to their rooms, we decided to have dinner at the restaurant.

Pulled Pork Sliders (Rs. 600)

While we were told that our meal for the night would be the Nepali Thaali Set which was included in our package, after a quick peek at their menu, we couldn’t help but order the pulled pork sliders (Rs. 600, it was added to our bill which was paid at checkout).

With the delicious, juicy pulled pork and the sweet and smoky barbecue sauce, the sliders were absolutely amazing, and so were the accompanying crisp potato wedges and the lettuce drizzled with some great dressing (which is something you don’t see that often in most places as usually, the lettuce is almost just for decorative purposes). Greatly recommended!

Nepali Thaali Set

The Nepali Thaali Set came in next, with an entire array of dishes that we thought we couldn’t finish, but boy, did we surprise ourselves!

The entire course was lovely, and the use of fresh ingredients led to a very clean flavor, and one could clearly taste all the spices and seasonings used in the dishes. From the simple yet flavorful chicken curry to the lovely mixed vegetable curry, the crispy and light fritters, and even the rice, which was fluffy and glistening with ghee (I had four servings of rice in total, so you know the food was good!), each and every item was excellent.

Rasgulla

For dessert, we had the rasgulla (which I believe is also included in the thaali set), which was spongy, not overwhelmingly sweet (perfect!), and was a nice little treat to wrap up our perfect meal.

Breakfast:

Once we came back from our short walk to the resort’s helipad the next morning, we headed straight towards the restaurant for breakfast and sat at one of the tables outside to soak in some of the sun rays and look at the beautiful mountains, something I doubt I’ll ever get tired of.

Back to breakfast, it is mainly set up buffet-style, but one could also order from the menu and have the food delivered to the table to save you from an arduous one-minute walk to the serving area inside.

Orange Juice

We decided to start our meal with a glass of juice, and while I had originally wished to have the carrot ginger turmeric juice, it was unfortunately unavailable. Despite not being on the menu, I was offered orange juice, which was quite cool and refreshing.

Cheese & Cold Cuts Platter

We then had the cheese and cold cuts platter, which included salami, chicken, and local Nepali cheese. The salami, in particular, was pretty good, and I liked how well the spices paired with the fatty, almost butter-like Nepali cheese.

English Breakfast with Masala Omelette

Next was the English breakfast, with the masala omelette (with cheese and ham) as the omelette of our choice, which was decent, although it wasn’t as flavorful as I would’ve liked. The sausage and bacon were well-fried and crisp, the mushrooms were smoky and savory, and the fried potatoes were admittedly a little bland, but all in all, the English breakfast was tasty and quite filling.

Homemade Granola with Yogurt & Fruits

We also had the homemade granola, and while the oil had left some of the granola feeling a little soggy, for the most part, it was pretty crunchy and was perfect with the yogurt. As for the fruits, both the watermelon and orange were juicy and fresh.

Bread Basket

Lastly, we tried the bread basket, which offered items such as bread (yes, I was surprised, too), croissants, and muffins. On the day of review, only sliced white bread was available (although not pictured). While I’m not too particular about my bread, it would’ve been great to choose from options such as multigrain, whole wheat, or rye for variety and for individuals who’d prefer a healthier alternative.

As for the croissant, it was flaky and buttery, and it took me a lot to stop myself from getting another (though I should have), and it was the same with the muffins as well, which were freshly baked, soft, and delicious. Like with dinner, we ended our breakfast with a sweet finish!

Final Thoughts:

While some improvements could be made with menu variety, especially with breakfast, our dining experience with the Terraces overall was splendid, thanks to their farm-to-table approach providing fresh ingredients that enhanced the already great dishes and the service provided by the lovely staff that was nothing short of impeccable (something I had previously mentioned in my main review of the resort as well).

Let me know if you enjoyed the meals offered at the Terraces and if you tried the pulled pork sliders!
