me and all Düsseldorf

A rarity in the realm of hotels, me and all Düsseldorf oozes personality and character while still maintaining a quality standard with the rooms and services. To make things even better, it is located on Immermannstraße, also known as Little Tokyo, where a lot of shopping and food are just a few steps away!

Good deals always seem to follow me when it comes to hotels, and just like how I lucked out with the Hyatt Regency in Mainz, I got a similar deal with the me and all hotel in Düsseldorf from the Booking.com Genius program (I’m not being paid to advertise this, but I wish I was), where I got a discounted rate AND a free room upgrade to the Superior Double Room!

Getting There:

The hotel is very easy to locate and get to, especially with the close proximity to both the city train stations (known as U-bahns) and the regional train stations (Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof being the closest), which we had used to get there, as well as the buses, trams, and taxis that operate around the area. As with Mainz, ridesharing apps like FREE NOW operate here, so you could make use of that as well.

Arrival & Checking In:

We got to Immermannstraße (where the hotel is located) pretty early, but thankfully due to so much to see around the area, we were able to brutally murder some time and get there just in time for check-in. It was a swift process, and like with almost all hotels in Germany, we had to fill out a form that asked for our names, addresses, and phone numbers, and after we were done, we were given RFID key cards to access our room.

Aside from the front desk, the lobby had plenty of things to offer, such as the Café Rösterei VIER, the Marketplace to grab some snacks and some me and all merchandise, and the DAQUARO Barber Spot to get a fresh cut (a barber shop in a hotel is possibly one of the coolest things ever!!). Aside from that, I also liked how the ambiance and decor of the lobby was filled with personality and character.

The Superior Double Room:

The Bedroom:

The Superior Double Room was pretty basic; however, it had everything one would want in a mid-range hotel room: bottled water (and it was still water, thank the lord), a tea and coffee maker, a TV, an electronic safe, a work desk, and some storage space for clothing, so there were no complaints in that regard.

However, we were a little miffed that the sink was right outside the room, which in their defense, is pretty efficient as one could still freshen up or do their makeup and whatnot while the other is taking a shower or is busy blowing up the poor toilet. That being said, we still would’ve preferred it to be inside the bathroom, although admittedly, the sink being outside does make a lot of sense. Maybe it’s just us being crusty old traditionalists, I suppose.

Out of all the many things our Superior Double Room had provided, the star of the show for me was their adorable amenity kit (which I obviously took home), which came shaped like a milk carton featuring a cute teddy bear design, and included products such as body lotion, mouth wash, and even a condom, sadly denying kids the opportunity to brag to their friends that they were conceived at THE me and all hotel in Düsseldorf (an absolute shame).

Moving on to the beds, they were decently sized; however, some could definitely find it a little small. It was pretty comfortable, and so were the blankets and the pillows. No complaints regarding this department! I even recall seeing a flyer in our room that advertised the maker of either the mattress or the pillow, so if you like it enough, it’s possible to have the same level of comfort at your home too!

The Bathroom:

The bathroom to me, on the other hand, was a little disappointing, as the sole sink in the room happened to be in the bedroom outside, and there were no mirrors around (it’s borderline torture to not see my mesmerizing visage in every room I grace my presence with!!). On top of that, the bathroom door lock in our room did not work, and whenever one of us would shower, the water would just get all over the floor, so we would have to wipe up the floors with the towels, which was a little annoying. However, the shower was pretty decent, with just the right amount of pressure, and the hair and body gel they offered had a pretty great fragrance, too (although it might be a little overpowering to some).

Amenities:

According to the website (again, because we basically just sleep, shower and excrete at the hotel as we spend most of our time outside), aside from the services provided in the lobby, they have the Sky Lounge Bar & Restaurant, a dry-cleaning service, and even Tokyobikes that you could borrow for free. We didn’t have breakfast or dinner here, as we ate at Birdie & Co. and at eatTOKYO, respectively, but I’ve seen great reviews about it, so give it a try and let me know!

Final Thoughts:

It’s very cool and also rare to see a hotel with lots of personality and character that are reflected in all of its aspects, from the decor to the amenities, and to even stuff like a simple information pamphlet, and I certainly appreciate that about me and all. On top of that, the location is solid as it is smack dab in the middle of Little Tokyo, and the train stations and shopping areas are pretty close too. Aside from a few easily fixable issues, we have no complaints and will definitely see ourselves returning here when we come to Düsseldorf again!

[Thanks to the Genius program offered by Booking.com, our total came to €133, as well as a free room upgrade!]
