Autumn Afternoon Tea @ The Stage by Godiva – Dessert Review

The Autumn Afternoon Tea Set at The Stage by Godiva brings in the flavors of the objectively best season with a variety of sweet, buttery, and fruity treats!

4–6 minutes

I’ve always wanted to try afternoon tea, so when I saw The Stage by Godiva (speaking of Godiva, I was 25 years old when I learned that the proper way to pronounce it is GO-DI-VAH, not GO-DIVA…) advertising their Autumn-themed afternoon tea set outside their store in Apgujeong, you know I had to be there!

After paying (it was ₩49,000, which, in my opinion, was a pretty great price) and getting the tea set from the counter once it was ready, we marveled at the glorious beauty of the set and all the treats it housed. It came in three tiers, and the staff recommended that we start from the bottom and go from savory flavors to sweet. Once we (okay, mainly me) finished taking pictures of the gorgeous Autumn Afternoon Tea Set, we were ready to dive in and discover what the most beautiful season tastes like!

Lemon & Ginger Tea

When ordering the afternoon tea set, one can choose a tea of their liking, and I, being the sophisticated and tasteful gentleman that I am, opted for the soothing and comforting Lemon & Ginger Tea. I found it to be a great companion for the afternoon tea as it helped wash down the rather unpleasant sugary aftertaste one gets after eating too many desserts.

Tier 3 – Croissant Sandwich & Scones:

Croissant Sandwich

As stated before, we were suggested to work our way up from the bottom, so we started our Autumn Afternoon Tea Set journey on a Summer Evening with the crisp Croissant Sandwich on the lowermost tier. It had ham (honestly, the flavor was so light I couldn’t tell which meat it was) and a rather sizable slab of butter, which made every bite rich and complimented the aforementioned crispness of the croissant.

Scone(s)

Next up were the delightfully crumbly Scones, and although they were perfectly fine by itself, I spread some jam and butter on mine to make it even perfect-er!

Tier 2 – BamBam Petit Gaito with Autumn Flavor, Caramel Apple Dacquoise, & the Sweet Fig Panna Cotta :

We then made our way up to the second floor and helped ourselves to the irresistibly creamy and caramel-ish piece of heaven that was the BamBam Petit Gaito with Autumn Flavor (again, as I said before, this was a computer translation, so the name might most likely be incorrect. Also, “Gaito” = Gateaux, or is it a different thing entirely?…), which also had crispy chocolate on the inside and a biscuit base to make things even more exciting!

Caramel Apple Dacquoise

After savoring every single crumb remaining from the irresistible BamBam Petit Gaito with Autumn Flavor, we moved on to another sweet delight, the Caramel Apple Dacquoise! It was a moist and fluffy sandwich with a rich butter-like filling and a lovely fruity sweetness that greeted you as you made your way to the very center of the dessert.

Sweet Fig Panna Cotta

Before we could reach the summit of the tower, we had to conquer the boss who guarded the path upwards: the Sweet Fig Panna Cotta.

As much as I claim to be a very adventurous and open-minded person regarding food, I still am ridiculously picky when it comes to fruits, so the Sweet Fig Panna Cotta was definitely a challenge for me — which I ended up losing!… I couldn’t finish all of it, but what I can tell you from the few bites I had is that it was a vanilla-like custard with sweet fruit syrup on top of the figs. I wasn’t able to enjoy it, but I know for sure that you will, however!

Tier 1 – Pistachio Financier & the Sweet & Savory Madeline:

Pistachio Financier

After a long trek up the tower, we finally reached the very top and celebrated our journey with the Pistachio Financier, which was everything one would want in a Financier: sweet, soft, and moist, with the added bonus of the pistachios’ unique nuttiness.

Sweet & Savory Madeline

Alongside the Pistachio Financier on the topmost tier was the Sweet & Savory Madeline (and fresh figs as well, but I gave my friends the honor of eating all of those), with the peanuts in question very reminiscent of a Peanut Brittle in terms of texture and taste. It was quite nutty and mildly salty while also having the sweetness one would expect from a Madeline. Although it was decent, it was not as great as the Pistachio Financier, in my opinion. But again, try it yourself; we might have different opinions!

Final Thoughts & LLAMASODA’S FAV:

The Autumn Afternoon Tea Set was a pretty decent set of treats. My one and only gripe was that I rushed through it instead of taking my time and relaxing like one would do when having afternoon tea. Thankfully, the Autumn Afternoon Tea Set (I AM SO TIRED OF TYPING THESE SPECIFIC WORDS) will be around here at The Stage, so I might visit again and take my time to savor all the flavors properly this time!
