The Decor:

The restaurant had a quiet, relaxing, and almost intimate atmosphere, and the decor was pretty Japanese-y, which was not much of a surprise considering that this was, well, a Japanese restaurant. I loved the abundance of Maneki Neko (for those who don’t know, they’re the cats with the raised paw, as seen in the picture above), though I personally felt they didn’t really need a charm for good luck and fortune when their food is fantastic enough to bring both on its own!
The Sashimi & Sushi Set:
Sashimi Set:

The sashimi was served first, and it was a delightfully fresh and light start to the meal. I’m not saying this just to avoid listing all the different kinds of sashimi on the plate, as I am as horrible at recalling the names of seafood as I am with fruits and vegetables, but they were all great! I honestly could’ve finished all of them as is without the soy sauce or the wasabi, but since there was one of each item, I got to taste them on their own and also with the extra flavorings, which was terrific.
While I did say that they were all great, the Tuna and the Sea Urchin were even greatER and really stood out to me!
Sushi Set:

PHENOMENAL. I could end this portion of the review with just that, but to not talk more about it would be outright disrespectful to the chef’s hard work!
All ten different pieces of sushi were delicious in their own right, but the definite star of the show was the rice, which was quite vinegary compared to the ones I previously had. You’d think the vinegary flavor would take away from the other ingredients’ flavors, but I found it actually enhanced them and made them stand out even more.
If I were to make a (nonsensical) comparison, I’d say the ingredients on top are the beats and the vinegary rice is the speaker, and over here at Sushi Moohee, they play their tunes at full blast!
Side Dishes:
The dinner set also came with an assortment of side dishes, such as the…
Steamed Egg:

The Steamed Egg was a deliciously savory side dish with a custard-like consistency containing shrimp, carrots, and other goodies. I am fully aware that it sounds backhanded, but trust me when I say that this dish reminds me of hospital food in the best way!
Salad:

The Salad came with a sweet and tangy dressing, a silky smooth and creamy piece of tofu, and of course, a wonderful assortment of vegetables. As an advocate for journalistic transparency and integrity, I’ll be honest and admit that I barely touched it because it was a little too healthy for me to enjoy.
If any reader over here who is surely to live a long, healthy life did finish their Salad, please give us your review in the comments!
Udon:

With perfectly-textured noodles, clams, a generous serving of green onions and other toppings, and a savory and light broth with a hint of spice, the Udon, to nobody’s surprise, was a certified hit! Given its quality, I’m surprised it was just a side dish to accompany the Sashimi and Sushi sets, which again speaks volumes about the amount of care and effort put into the food here at Sushi Moohee!
Grilled Fish:

The Grilled… Fish (I told you my seafood knowledge is terrible) had a delicious skin with a slightly sticky glaze and a savory taste that was quite reminiscent of dried squid snacks. As for the meat inside, it was so tender and easy to pull off the bone that I finished it all with a pair of chopsticks!
Sliced Fruit:

A chilled slice from a… fruit belonging to the citrus family (Writing this review has made me aware of how disgustingly unhealthy I am…) was served at the end as dessert, and it was wonderfully fresh and juicy and came off the skin so easily!

Friendly peeps
Final Thoughts & LLAMASODA’S FAV:

PIETRA is a restaurant perfect for an intimate lunch or dinner, and as mentioned previously, the atmosphere and vibe really sucks you in and make you feel relaxed and at ease (having a drink or two helps with that too). I really had a great experience at the restaurant and will definitely come back here if I revisit Daefrica. Next time, I’ll get their signature Gnocchi!
